Light can travel through the vacuum of space. It is a form of energy. Energy can be converted from one form to another in a process known as energy transformation. When light energy falls on an object, some of the energy is absorbed. This raises the energy level of the substances in the object. The object sends energy out as heat energy. An example is when you are sitting outside on a sunny day. Some of the light energy is absorbed by your clothing. Darker colors absorb more and lighter colors reflect more. Therefore, the darker colors feel hotter than lighter colored clothes in summer.
