We editors at enotes do not write for students; however we can offer suggestions:

The study of a religion does not necessarily lead to any positive or negative results.  While this study may provide an understanding of a particular sect, unless one embraces its ideology, there is little that will directly change a person.

If, however, one studies a religion and accepts the concepts of its doctrines and beliefs, then a person's life finds a certain framework or direction.  Certainly, then, lending faith to the ideology of a religion changes one's past, one's present, and one's future.  For, the religious beliefs of an individual act as a reference for people by which they can measure themselves. Your introduction can, perhaps, make reference to a saint or a person of strong religious conviction whose life has been directed by his/her religion.

For other ideas, you may wish to view the Religion Group on enotes whose site.  There are numerous questions and answers on various topics in this group.
