Baroque music: 1600 to 1750. This genre was named with a negative connotation for being heavily ornamented and intricately ornate. Nonetheless, Baroque music now enters heavily in the Classical music cannon, which includes renowned composers like Bach Scarlatti.
Romantic music: approximately 1760 to 1830. Romantic music came after Baroque and, like all eras, was both influenced by and a reaction against Baroque. The ornate turned to surprising elements while the heavily ornamented became supernatural, ghost-like and nocturnal elements.
