A Christian who accepted the creation account in Genesis would have a much different perception of modern science's theories concerning evolution.  Although the idea of species evolving to adapt to their environment would be generally accepted, many Christians reject the view of 'accidental creation,' instead favoring the notion of the Divine Creator who created the world in six days; many others find a happy medium in a combination of the two, the idea that God my have used the process of evolution to refine species and the actual days mentioned in Genesis could refer to longer spans of time.

Certainly many Christians have faced criticism for being 'old-fashioned' by staying committed to their religious views about the creation of the world in the face of more modern scientific theories.
