How do you treat anxiety and depression?I'm doing an assignment for health about anxiety and depression and need to know that question.
Anxiety and depression are conditions that are serious and need to be treated promptly. There are many different reasons why people may have anxiety or depression (many times both at the same time). Perhaps someone has experienced a traumatic event, like losing a loved one, divorce, or losing a job. They may have a chemical imbalance in the brain. In addition, many women who have recently given birth experience postpartum depression which can be very common. The first thing that a person should do if they feel they are experiencing anxiety and/or depression is contact their doctor. Many times the doctor will refer the patient to a psychiatrist for counseling. At this time, the psychiatrist may prescribe medication that is used to treat and control the anxiety and depression.
I think that there are different ways that one can approach anxiety and depression. I believe that writing about it has to encompass these different approaches. Some believe that medication is the best way to overcome the realities of depression and/ or anxiety. These individuals suggest that conditions within anxiety and depression are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain and medication can help to remedy this. Others believe that there are more therapeutic approaches that involve the individual to understand the full psychological implications of the realities of anxiety and depression. There are other approaches that combine aspects of each. I would say that examining these different belief systems is going to be critical in this process of composition.
