I would suggest spending time with him. Invite him to do things with you and try to attend group activities that you know he likes. For instance, if he likes football you might want to make a point of going to the football games. If he plays a sport, plays in a band, or some other type of activity that is publicly displayed, you might want to go to his game or show to support him. Show that you are interested in spending time with him and getting to know him.

My suggestion is to spend time with him first.  He will pick up the signals.  Start by becoming his friend and hanging out with him.  If he likes you, and you like him after spending time with him, it will naturally evolve into something more.

A shared sense of humor is often a good way to become closer to people. (My wife and I met in this way; she kept hearing about corny jokes that I had told.) So, you might want to share your humor with this person and see if he responds and if he shares the same kind of humor.

I would suggest simply getting to know the boy as a friend first, if you have not done so already. This way, you get to know him personally. Once you have done this, you will know if risking the friendship is worth pursuing a relationship. If it is, you will both probably know and it will just happen.

If you feel comfortable with the guy you are interested in, try becoming a little more friendly with him. I used to pick on girls in a friendly way--it's a way of showing interest--and once they come to realize that it's all in good fun, they sometimes come around. I also found it tough to screw up my courage to ask a girl out, primarily because I was worried about being rejected. That will happen, too, but you'll never get anywhere without trying.

There is no right answer to this question. However, there are certain things that you can do. Let me give you some suggestions.

First, you can be nice to this person and see if he reciprocates. If he seems positive to your advancements, then it is a good sign that he likes you. For example, if you ask him to grab some coffee or tea and he says yes, then it is a very positive sign. If you do this for a while, then you will have to define the relationship at one point. Also keep in mind that now a days, women and men are more on a level playing field. So, you might just want to ask him out as a friend and see what happens.

Second, you can try to do things that he likes, such as go to a sporting event. This will show that you like him enough to do the things that he likes. By doing this for a prolonged period of time, he might get the picture that you like him.
