Usually the best way to "solve" an algebra question is to get one variable by itself.

If I had the equation `2y + 3x = 6`

and I wanted to solve for y, I would subtract 3x from both sides, then divide by 2 to isolate the y.

Which would leave me with `y = (6 - 3x)/2`

It depends.

What type of algebra question would you like to ask.  There are all kinds of Algebra questions.  Are you trying to find a specific value from a linear equation.  Are you trying to find all solutions given an inequality.  Do you want to consider real as well as non real solutions.  All of this is necessary to know in order to answer an algebra question.
