A literature review is basically a research paper.  The literature in question is studies and papers published on your topic.  In order to conduct a literature review you need to do research at your library.  Most literature review involves a database search.  This does not mean you actually have to go to the library.  Most libraries give you access to these databases online.  You want to find several important papers that seem to describe your topic, in this case learning styles of students.  I would use the search terms “learning styles” and “modalities” and possibly also “differentiation” and any other terms that show up as key words in the articles you find.

Once you have the literature, you want to synthesize it into a thesis and use the literature as examples to support the thesis.  Your thesis will depend on what you find, but let’s say that your thesis is: Teachers should use students’ learning styles to develop lessons for differentiated instruction.  You then will support that with your examples.
