The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is mandated by the government to include nutrition information on food labels. This includes calorie amounts, various vitamin and mineral contents, and amounts of saturated fats. The FDA is a governmental agency which is a part of the bureaucratic system that regulates our daily lives.

The FDA is charged with trying to keep our food supply and the medications we take safe. Foods undergo various testing procedures to make sure microbial contaminents are not present. Before any drug is introduced to the general public, they undergo rigorous testing and clinical trials in an effort to maintain safety.

It is correct to say that food labels represent an influence by governmental authorities. This is a positive influence that enables us to remain safe while consuming these products.
