In the chapter entitled "Cry of The Hunters," the hunters try to drop bolders on Ralph as he hides in the thicket.  The first one misses him but the second one causes him to move.  However, he continues to hide in the thicket and eventually one of the hunters jabs a spear into the thicket and almost hits Ralph, so he jabs his spear out and stabs one of the boys.  The next thing you know Jack has had the hunters set the island on fire to smoke Ralph out of the thicket.
