How did Prometheus steal the fire from Helios?

According to what I understand about the myth, the connection between Prometheus, Helios the Sun God, and Fire arises from Zeus' anger.  Zeus was upset that Prometheus had given fire to man in the first place.  As a result, he took it away from mankind.  In demonstrating loyalty to mankind, Prometheus returned the gift of fire to man by lighting a torch from the sun, the domain of Helios, and giving that torch to mankind.  This allowed man, who did not know how to make fire, the ability to have fire restored to them after Zeus took it away.  This is what I understood about the connection between Prometheus and Helios.  I suppose it could be looked at as stealing, but I think Prometheus saw it as "returning" an element that he had given to man before Zeus took it away.
