Blind Pew, the evil old pirate and dispenser of the notorious black spot, meets his unfortunate end beneath the hooves of the law officers' horses. It's somewhat appropriate that this career criminal should end up being killed by the forces of law and order, albeit accidentally. Just before he was handed his one-way ticket to hell, Blind Pew was up to no good. He'd returned to the Admiral Benbow with a gang of thugs, hell-bent on finding the treasure map. They didn't find it, of course, because Jim had already made off with it.
When they hear the sound of horses approaching, Pew's goons take off into the darkness of the fields, leaving Blind Pew behind, stuck in the middle of the road, tapping wildly with his stick. There's no honor among thieves, as they say, and these desperadoes are only interested in saving their own skin, so instead of helping Blind Pew to escape, they abandon him to his fate.
