I assume that you are saying that US government control of our economic production helped to defeat Germany and Japan.  If that is the case, it helped simply because it allowed all economic resources that were available to be put to use in the war effort.  No resources were "wasted" making consumer goods and such.

By controlling the economy, the government made sure that the Allies had huge amounts of materiel.  This was one of the major factors that allowed them to win -- they simply had more weapons to throw at the Axis.
