How can we prevent earthquakes and damages caused by earthquakes?
Unfortunately, we are unable to stop the earthquakes from happening. These are natural occurrences and we do not yet possess any technology to prevent them from happening. In fact, we cannot even predict earthquakes (with great accuracy). What we can do is to try to minimize the damage caused by earthquakes. One of the most prominent ways we can use to minimize the earthquake related damage is by enhanced structural design, which may include extra reinforcement, better foundations, building isolation, dampeners, etc. Another method is by use of light materials in building construction (say wood boards in place of bricks for separation walls), so that if a collapse happens, it causes minimal damage to human beings. We can also develop early warning systems to ensure that people are away from buildings when earthquake occurs.
