How can pesticides be good for people according to economics?is it because more people eat healthier food?
The best way to answer this question is to look at what pesticides do. They kill and prohibit unwanted things from destroying our food supply. The downside, of course, is that pesticides are unnatural and may harm us as well. However, for the positive aspect, it protects food. In this way, it helps farmers to have a better harvet. It makes them considerably more profitable. It also help us, because not only is there enough food, but also because it is more affordable. Finally, this food can be shipped in other places in the world as well. Another point to consider is the whole organic movement. If organic foods are not better, why not just eat non-organic foods.
The main way that pesticides can help people is by increasing the supply of food.
Before pesticides, food crops suffered greatly from being eaten by insects. This meant that the supply of food was lower and prices, therefore, were higher.
After the invention and widespread use of pesticides, farmers were able to grow more crops, all other things being equal. When this happened, both the cost of those crops and the cost of things made from those crops went down.
This allowed more people to be able to afford more food.
