Conflict can lead to growth in a marriage because it can force the partners in the relationship to truly think about what their own attributes are and about what they want in their relationship.  This can lead to a marriage that is based on a more solid foundation. 

When we have conflict in a marriage, it is often based on our personal quirks and/or on what we want from our marriages.  The conflict forces us to think deeply about those issues.  It makes us analyze and evaluate what our good and bad points are.  It makes us ask if we have realistic expectations about our relationships.

When we think about these things, our marriages typically improve.
