Communication strategies should reflect the company's general goals, values, and objectives, as well as its business objectives, such as the target market or financial goals. In order to develop good communication strategies, one should develop effective communication protocols that will ensure the realization of both the strategic and business objectives.

Established protocols that help with the regulation of processes, regardless if they're about daily tasks or unexpected situations, are essential, as they help employees understand their roles within the company and utilize their skill, expertise, and competence to promote the betterment of the company. Communication protocols address what kind of information is communicated to the organization and all of the communication processes:

  1. Defining the tasks, roles, duties, and responsibilities of the leaders and the employees of the company.
  2. Making sure that everything will be regularly updated and analyzed.
  3. Establishing communication processes, such as reviewing communication strategies and seeing if they meet the needs of all employees, establishing main daily tasks, main response actions for crisis situations, establishing communication styles and tools (in-person meetings, online communication, etc.).
  4. Establishing the company's standard of communication or the rules of how communication should occur in the company (how employees communicate about an issue, finding a good language of communication acceptable for everyone, creating rules and guidelines on how to use social media to better communicate, etc.).
