The Blackfeet Indians today live on a reservation in Northern Montana. There are also related nations of Indians living in Canada. Together, the groups are called the Blackfoot Confederacy.
In the United States, at least, the situation of this nation is somewhat mixed. On the good side, the Blackfeet live on land that they see as their ancestral land. They have not been moved far away from their original lands as some tribes have been. This, and the extreme remoteness of their reservation, have helped to keep their culture relatively strong.
However, this also comes with an economic downside. Because they are so far from any urban centers, there are not many jobs for the Blackfeet. Unemployment is extremely high and many Blackfeet live in poverty as defined by the US government.
