He didn't love all children...the Jewish children were often shot down in cold blood in the streets--especially if they were attempting to run away and hide. I find it intriguing that the "master race" in Hitler's mind was blonde, blue-eyed, and fair skinned, and he himself was none of these things. Curiouser and curiouser.
Animals don't question you, they just obey. That's why Hitler loved his German Shepherd "Blondie" so much. He was given to Hitler as a present to cheer him up after the loss at Stalingrad. You can see a video of them together on YouTube if you search for Hitler and Blondie.
Children, especially in German society at that time, were also quite obedient, and Hitler viewed them as pure, as the future of Germany.
Contrast this with how he viewed his enemies, and the cruel indifference with which he dealt with those enemies.
Hitler loved people as long as they were a part of his "master race", others he really didn't have any use for. There are a lot of theories as to why Hitler believed the way he did.
I agree with Pohnpei. Hitler might have had great love for people, but it was only people he deemed worthy of love and respect. If you did not meet his criteria for acceptability, you would have been very afraid for your life. Check out the following enote links for more information:
Just because you love some things doesn't mean you love everything, right?
It's not like he was killing those particular children. And I don't think he went around showing love for Jewish and Slavic children.
So it's like (except a million times worse) how a person like Thomas Jefferson could be a slave owner and yet believe in democracy. It's all about who you see as "your people." You'll love those and you can still hate the "other."
I am not so sure if Hitler loved animals and children. If this is true, it is really "Believe it or Not" kind of information. If someone knows of authentic source of information, that confirms Hitler's love for animals and children I will be grateful to the person for posting such information on this discussion board.
As far as my assessment goes, Hitler loved only himself and his ideas. He had no hesitation in killing anyone on slightest suspicion of being opposed to him or his ideas. As a matter of fact one of the central principle of the Nazism is organic view of society, in which the society is considered as as a single organism, while individual members with the society are considered to be like the cells constituting the society, that have can be sacrificed without any hesitation for the good of the society. There is no place for love for individuals in this kid of thinking.
thanks for getting me out of my confusion ☺
