In order to be an art curator, you probably need to go to school for art. You should probably major in art history and know a good amount of languages as well, since art is from all around the world. Now if you want to work in a prestigious art gallery, an advanced degree might be necessary as well. You should also have an area of speciality. For example, Greek Art or Italian art in the 1700's. You get the picture.

Also during school, you should look for an internship. Perhaps the school that you attend or will attend has several art galleries or museums. If so, you can work there, even if it is for free.  You can do the same in the summers. It is a small field. So, try to make as many contacts as you can.

An art curator can fulfill many different job roles some of which include: selecting art for the museum's space, researching the work of new artists and suggesting new purchases, organising art exhibitions, and writing about art or artists in art catalogues, brochures, art magazines or art books.
