Help me with a character analysis on Greg Mortenson "Three Cups of Tea." How long does it have to be? What type of an outline am I looking for?
This is the first assignment of working toward writing an essay on the Novel "Three Cups of Tea" written by Greg Mortenson.
Since I'm not the teacher who gave you this assignment, it's hard for me to say how long your character analysis needs to be, or in what format it should be.
In general, a character analysis should answer the following types of questions:
a) What does the character look like? How does he dress?
b) What is his background? What did he do before the main events described in the book?
c) Who are his close friends and associates? How does he act toward them?
d) What is his occupation or mission?
e) How does he speak? (with/without an accent, slowly/quickly, politely/harshly, etc.)
f) What was his childhood like?
g) What tends to motivate him? (money, fame, love, etc.)
First, Three Cups of Tea is nonfiction... it is not a novel.
As you read the book keep a note book handy and write down answers to the question "What kind of person would do this?" and "Why would he do this?"
For example: What kind of person attempts to climb the highest peak in the world?
When you are done you will have a list of his characteristics and supporting evidence for your reasons.
The complicated but interesting part will be when some characteristics are incompatible with others.
This isn't a total answer but maybe it will help you.
