Help!!! Can't figure out the thesis statement!!!!
B. F. Skinner, a psychologist, believes behavior is determined from without, not from within; punishment and reward determine whether or not a certain kind of behavior will become habitual. Skinner believes that human behavior is a product of our environment.
I don't really understand fully what a thesis statement means...and i need help on creating one for this paragraph asap.....it will mean SOO MUCH if you help me figure out what the thesis statement is for this!!! and couple statements that support the thesis statement and what might someone say in disagreement about it!!!!!
THANK YOU AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!
A thesis statement is generally found at the beginning of a paper. The thesis statement explains the argument the author will be supporting through the rest of the paper. It is very important that a thesis statement be a provable idea. It is also important for the evidence presented in the body of the paper to continue to tie back into the thesis.
I'm not sure from these two sentences what the topic of your research is about. You could select the sentence "Skinner believes that human behavior is a product of our environment" as a thesis in a paper about B.F.Skinner. You could also use the paragraph as evidence for a paper about the topic nature vs. nurture. Some scientists believe that we are shaped by nature. The feel that people are a product of the genes and biological factors they were born with. Other scientists, like Skinner, belive that we are a product of nurture. They feel that our environment and, as Skinner states, "punishment and reward" determine who we will be and how we will act.
Depending on the topic of your assignement, you could write your paper about Skinner or use Skinner's beliefs as evidence that nurture determine our behavior rather than nature.
