Any suggestions for helping me with a health/fertility problem?

I have Yellowish Thick Sperm, I'm trying to have my 1st baby and I was told to take prenatals and folic acid and vitamin C but it doesn't seem to help baby. I'm 25 years old, good heath. I don't smoke or do drugs. I did a sperm test and the doctor said that my results came back and I had a good count but the sperm was yellowish and it was bulky/thick and it didn't travel. She told me to take prenatal and folic acid and vitamin C. But it doesn't seem to help...any words of advice?

First of all, it is always a good idea to get a second opinion. You may want to consider going to another doctor to see if they give you a different diagnosis. A urologist will be more knowledgeable about your situation than a GP.

In the meantime, there are a few things you should take into consideration. Stay well hydrated. Your semen may become thicker if you are dehydrated. You should not be taking prenatal vitamins. They are meant for pregnant women to ensure that she and her baby are getting proper nutrients. You also may not need to take folic acid. That is another nutrient that is important for a pregnant woman. However, it should not affect your semen. B2 (riboflavin), which is in most multivitamins, can cause semen to become a yellowish color. If that is the case, there is nothing to worry about, but you should rule out other causes first. Finally, you may want to consider getting tested for STDs and other infections. They could cause your semen to be yellow.

Best of luck!
