Kinetics = measuring and studying the rate of reactions. The rate of reaction for enzymes is directly impacted by:
1. Substrate Concentration : For example, the rate of a reaction that is catalyzed by an enzyme increase with the substrate concentration until the maximum velocity is reached.
2. Temperature = the velocity also increase with temperature until the peak velocity is met. However, higher temperatures can actually cause the enzyme to denature.
3. pH = the concentration of hydrogen ions affects reaction in many ways; however, extreme pH will also denature many enzymes.
Each enzyme has it's own unique concentration, temperature and pH that allows for optimum velocity.
