A biome is climatic region encompassing 1 or more ecosystems.  The banks of Lake Victoria would be a biome and the life revolving around a sycamore fig tree would be an ecosystem within that biome.

A temperate forest in North America is a biome, and it has ecosystems within it.  Sometimes a biome is an ecosystem, sometimes it has more than one.

A city can also be a biome with ecosystems within it, that vary from city to city.

"A city in Idaho has a population of pigeons.  This pigeon population sustains the food supply for a family of Peregrine falcons.  The falcons preying on the pigeons limits their population allowing the presence of Mourning Doves, Chickadees, Robins, Sparrows and other birds..."  Would be an example of an ecosystem within a biome.
