"Greasy Lake" is about some misguided teenage boys on summer break who learn the hard way that being disreputable people has a high price attached to it: being beaten, having property wrecked, and bumping into floating dead bodies. I don't know the other story and find nothing online except Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder by Richard Louv. Chapter 5 is titled, "A Life of the Senses: Nature vs. Know-It-All State of Mind." Is this what you are asking about?
