This might be a challenge to answer because in my previous post, I argued that the boys' friendship suffers as their innocence disappears upon finding the dead body.

I think that the first point I would make regarding their friendship strengthened as a result of finding the body would be in the relationship between Gordie and Chris.  Seen as a screwup by teachers and adults, especially his dad, Chris toughs it out in the college courses with Gordie, and, in large part, because of their friendship.  Naturally, this experience of academic rigor supported by them as both friends and colleagues strengthens the bonds between them.

I think another way we can examine how their friendship is strengthened is that the four of them understand the gravity of the experience in finding the body.  This creates an understanding amongst the boys' that their experience together will forever be linked.  This is implied in the fact that the entire story is a recollection, indicating that such an experience had an equally powerful effect on not only Gordon, but all of the boys.  The sharing of such an experience indicates a connection between them.

Finally, building off of this, the fact that Gordon recollects about his experiences with all of them after thirty some years after it, indicates that there is a strong sense of connection that he feels towards his friends.  It is definitely enhanced knowing that all of them have died and he is the only one alive from the four.  He recites this story to indicate that despite the different paths they might have taken in life, they shared a bond, a connection, an understanding that was felt through all of them.
