Functional genomics is a branch of molecular biology that utilizes the data from all existing genomic projects in order to define a certain gene. These include the gene function and interactions which primarily focuses on gene expressions.

Proteomics is another field where it studies the protein structures and functions produced by the genes of a particular cells and/or tissues of a particular organisms. These proteins are further organized into a database so that it can be useful in the future research such as bioinformatics, genomic sequencing and other biochemistry fields.
