As far as writing style and characterization, I would choose Hamlet. Shakespeare's universal themes and multi-layered characters in the play make it difficult for playwrights to surpass him. Similarly, many of my colleagues and I have admitted that we can read and reread the play and take away something new with each read--I can't say that about many writers.
In regards to social satire, I most enjoy Pygmalion, but that is simply a personal preference for the storyline and Shaw's wit.
