I think that Mollie would have to be described as someone who is fairly self- absorbed. She is happy with whatever suits her needs and it easily placated. She is not manipulative in terms of wanting to coalesce or consolidate power. Rather, she is quite happy in being given the trappings of power without any of the responsibility. The fact that she is enticed by sugar and ribbons reflects this. I don't see her as necessarily malevolent or a force of evil. Rather, she is of self- interest. I see her as Karen Smith from the film, Mean Girls. She is not the brains of the operation as Regina is, nor is she the manipulative sidekick of Gretchen. Rather, she is part of the powerful Plastics, and is quite content when her needs are met. She is surface in this manner, and I think that Mollie is much the same way. In characterizing Mollie, I think that it would be important to bring out this idea of self- surface and self- interest in terms of reflecting her character. She possesses a personality that is not concerned with the social welfare, but rather with her own needs.
