It affected politics in several crucial ways. First, the French Revolution led to war between France and the other monarchies of Europe. These wars would continue on and off until 1815. Second, the Revolution inspired liberals in many European states. While they were largely disappointed with what the Revolution became, many of the ideas of the Revolution were also present in the many revolutions that took place in the first half of the nineteenth century. Also present in these revolutions was the spirit of nationalism unleashed by the wars mentioned above.
