I remember watching the first moon landing live on television. It seemed as if everybody in America was watching and that we were all holding our breaths. It was an uncanny experience. Nobody knew what to expect. Nobody knew whether the astronaut would step onto a solid surface or sink into dust. If the government had wanted to fake a moon landing, wouldn''t they have broadcast the event to the entire world on television?
Yes, I believe the Apollo 11 moon landing was an actual event in 1969 - the astronauts by way of the NASA Space Program did land on the moon, explore it, and return to Earth.
Don't you think the Russian and the Chinese governments at that time were not tracking this event by radar, looking for any indication that the expedition was fake so they could expose and embarrass the United States. I believe that is exactly what they were doing. They would know by way of their tracking systems, whatever they were using, whether the Command Module and the Lunar Module broke the plane of the moon's atmosphere and landed on the moon's soil (the Lunar Module).
Therefore, I conclude the Apollo 11 mission actually took place as reported. The United States had too much to lose in the way of reputation to fake this event. They could not risk it failing and being exposed as liars and cheats. In the late 1960s this would have been terrible for the country, more so than today, as the attitudes of people have changed in the light of governments being exposed for all kinds of wrongdoings, financial and otherwise.
There are moon rocks at the Hayden Planetarium in NYC that are on display. Besides that, there are astronauts who are still alive that actually landed on the moon and hours of film and broadcasts done at that time. I think what is really sad is that although we accomplished all of that, so long ago, we have virtually no space program anymore, due to the current political climate. It is very unfortunate.
Yes, I believe it happened. For one thing, there are man-made reflectors on the moon that many scientists use to prove that man has indeed set foot on the surface. We also have rocks and other materials that came from the moon during the time the astronauts landed. There are many factors that show man did, in fact, land on the moon. You might be interested in watching the Mythbusters episode where they talked about the moon landing. It was interesting to listen to them compare facts with conspiracy theories and myths.
Yes, of course it happened; the real question is what the conspiracy theorists are getting out of sowing doubt. In 1974 Bill Kaysing wrote a book claiming that the moon landing was a hoax. He got quite famous and made a lot of money from that book. In 2001 Fox TV made a special based on Kaysing's theory; again, the purpose was to make money, which they did. They also created a counterculture of moon hoaxers; a few of them are making money by keeping this idea alive, but it's a total waste of time.
And let me ask you - what difference would it make to your life if it was a hoax? People need to find more productive things to be concerned about.
I, too, believe that the moon landing happened. Throughout history there have always been conspiracy theories about pretty much everything (the moon landing, Area 51, and Presidential assassinations to name a few).
Outside of that, mwalter makes a great point: have they all been faked then?
Yes, I believe it. I don't think you could keep such a secret under wraps for this long. I also don't think there was really that much to be gained by putting on such an elaborate ruse. The risk of being caught and exposed would be too great.
If the first moon landing were faked, were the others supposedly faked also?
Of course it really happened. There is no reason to think that it did not. Sure, you can have conspiracy theories, but there is no way that a lie that big could ever be kept under wraps this long. Someone would have spilled the beans by now if it had been faked.
I guess there are still doubters about the first American moon landing, probably because some people find it impossible that such a giant step could have been taken at the time. I don't believe the moon landing was faked, nor do I believe that the many voyages to the International Space Station are an illusion.
When I see moon pictures of astronauts standing on there.
I see that their flag is moving in air. But there is no air in space how is this possible?
I believe! Why do you have doubt?
The appollo 11 was the first man travelling craft to moon including N.Armstrong, M.collins and E.Aldrin.
yes i do because they have shown us the videos and photos.
I am pretty sure they didn't because they would need at least 6 feet of lead covering them in order to survive all the radiation but, all they had was that special meterial that enabled them to move freely in their space suit. So im pretty sure the government made it up. :P
You are correct port!
Appollo 11 (Neil Armstrong, Mike Collins, Edwin Aldrin)
I also believe that it did happen but a peer of mine wrote a research paper on the topic so I wanted to see others perspectives and opinions on it.
