For a given data set, the range is the difference between the largest value and the smallest value. The mean is the sum of all the values divided by the number of values. The mode is the value that occurs the maximum number of times and the median is the value which lies half way when the values are arranged in ascending or descending order.

The data set we have here is: 2, 8, 6, 9, 8, 7, 9, 8

Arranging the values in ascending order we get: 2 , 6 , 7, 8 , 8, 8, 9, 9

The mean = 57/8 = 7.125

The range is 9 - 2 = 7

The median is 8

The mode is 8

The mean, median, range and mode of the given data set is 7.125, 8, 7 and 8 respectively.
