I need a few sentences from Hamlet, about the relationship/importance between King Claudius and Queen Gertrude, OR King Claudius and Polonius?
To Claudius, his relationship with Gertrude is absolutely important given that it is his road to the throne. He woos her with ferocity and manages to get her to marry him within just a few short weeks of having murdered her previous husband, Hamlet Sr. The play indicates that their relationship was based very much on physical attraction, it was one of the elements that Hamlet even urges Gertrude to use against Claudius in the end. He urges her not to forget her resolve in the midst of "reechy kisses," and in denying herself to him and abstaining from their marriage bed to keep from him the secret of Hamlet's sanity.
