The fastest plane can travel at about 4400 kilometers/hour. How long would it take to travel to the Sun? Convert your answer to the number of days and then the number of years. (The time it takes to travel a given distance = (distance travelled)/speed

The distance from the Earth to the Sun is not constant, because the Earth's orbit is not a perfect circle. The average distance is somewhere around 150,000,000km.
We can find the time it would take by using the provided equation: traveling time = distance traveled / speed.
Time = 150,000,000km / 4400km per hour.
The two "km" units cancel out, leaving us with hours.
From here, we have only to convert to days and years. We can use conversion factors.
34,091 hours / 24 hours in a day = 1420.5 days
1420.5 days / 365 days in a year = 3.89 years.
Important: I've rounded some of these values; if your instructor is concerned with significant figures, make sure you're only using the values provided in your textbook or directly from your instructor, make sure that you follow the significant figure rules, and do not round any value which needs to be used in a subsequent equation.
