I believe one's personal attitude has everything to do with how people approach adversity in life.
This is not an easy or simplistic concept: attitude is based a great deal on experiences, opportunities, and the support and connection with others, including family, friends and even one's employer or co-workers. It takes many years to develop a clear sense of self. If one is fortunate to have a positive support structure, input from others will assist someone in facing adversity. A strong positive sense of self is essential. For many people, a spiritual connection to a faith or the universe in general, will uplift an individual during difficult times.
However, if alone, isolated or feeling rejected, a person's ability to face adversity in a positive way is nearly impossible. Without feeling connected to others and able to benefit from the strength and objectivity of others, it is very hard to look at life's adversities and survive.
What some of it boils down to is perception and attitude. What seems like adversity to some of us is merely a challenging life situation to others. We can't always control what life throws our way, but we can control our response to it. So when adversity is at our door, do we lay down and let it walk in unchallenged or do we block the door with rational thought and a good plan of action? Some lay down and others fight, but it's all do to their own personal philosophy.
I think that experience is important in this situation. A person who is facing adversity for the first time will naturally be less able to deal with it than a person who is used to dealing with problems. This will not always be the case, but I think that this is an important factor in determining who will succeed when faced with adversity.
Prosperity and adversity are the two faces of the same coin.Prosparity brings friend, adversity test them.It is at the time of adversity we develop our true realization about life and society.Just as gold is freed from all impurities by fire, similarly a man is freed from all sorts of false illusion, obsession, vaniety, and other evils. The man who knows this is never frustated or demoralised .He faces all challenges with robust optimism and keeps his head calm and quiet. He does not lose confidence on his own -self.He follows the rules suggested by Kipling in his famous poem''If" and ultimately comes out successful.
But thosewho lose self-confidence,and become frustated are ultimately ruined.
In fine, strong determination, robust optimism, sincere efforts and calm and quiet approach help a man to overcome adversity and vice versa.
