The Weimar Republic was unpopular with the people of Germany. The main reason why this government was unpopular was because Germany faced serious economic problems. After World War I, Germany went into a depression. The economy was in bad shape, in part, because of the heavy reparations Germany had to pay to the Allies. Inflation was really bad, and the German money lost its value. People were unwilling to accept Germany currency. The government of the Weimar Republic was unable to solve the economic problems. This made Germany ripe for a takeover by an authoritarian form of government.

Another reason why this government was unpopular is that is was forced on Germany by the Versailles Treaty. Some Germans were unhappy they had to change their form of government. As a result, they didn’t support it. These factors, especially the economic one, doomed the Weimar Republic to fail.
