Photosynthesis is the process of taking sunlight (light energy) and chemical energy and storing it in the sugar bonds that the plant can use as energy. The main component of the plant that are involved in the intake of energy and the output of waste are the stomates and chlorophyll is what the plant uses to create the chemical reaction of changing light energy to chemical energy.
The plant as chloroplasts in the leaves (this is where photosynthesis occurs), light energy hits the leaves and the chloroplasts and a chemical reaction of carbon dioxide, water and light energy occurs resulting in the creation of sugar and oxygen. The plant uses the sugar for energy and the oxygen is put off as a waste product through the stomates within the plant.
