Examine the nature of the technology challenge in human resource management.
One of the most critical elements in assessing the need and challenge of technology in business is its continual advancements during periods of economic challenge. Simply put, a commitment to the latest in technological advances is something that can distinguish businesses and organizations, but is also expensive. Organizations have to make conscious choices in advancing these ends during periods of economic challenges. At the same time, I think that human resource managers have another set of challenges to face in defining the role of technology within the realm of personnel. While technology advancement is wonderful, the reality is that there is a training element that has to be incorporated into the scheme of human resources. Along these lines arises the thorny issue of how to evaluate employees in the realm of technology. How does one create language that accurately reflects employee use of technology keeping in mind the constant evolution of the medium as well as workers' rights that dictate training and access are equitable and provided for in a thorough manner? These are questions that organizations have to assess with the use of technology.
