To make a gerund phrase, take a verb from one of the sentences and add ing, making it a noun that's called a gerund. For sentence 2: 2 - I fail to grasp his meaning in many ways . He believes I am inefficient. I suggest using fail + ing to make the gerund failing. Failing to grasp his meaning in many ways, he believes I am inefficient.

For the first one, you could use one or two gerund phrases.  You could say "Since she has been keeping a dog at the gate, beggars have not been coming to her work."  Or you could say "Since she is keeping a dog at the gate, beggars do not come to her work."
