Using social media as an advertising platform can require quite a bit of man-hours. Depending on how you use FB or Twitter, and whether or not you are simply buying ad space, maintaining a presence on a social media platform can take up a considerable amount of time. 

Success in social media comes largely through persistence and consistency, two attributes defined by time spent.

I think the target market for a personal electronic device would probably be teenagers and young adults.  They seem to rely on those things more than anything.  I think your device should be cute and easy to use, and you should focus on those features because that's what teens like.
