In questions like this one, contextual clues and definitions will help in figuring out which word fits in each setting.  This becomes the basis of all word choice issues in reading and writing.  The office workers resented the domineering ways of their boss.  In this first sentence, "domineering" means "to assert one's will over another in a stubborn way."  This context would link to how the workers would resent the actions of a boss that was too assertive in terms of enforcing his/ her will over that of the workers. In the second sentence, "The lawyers in that firm predominantly practiced contract law."  The term "predominantly" means "for the most part," which would reflect the focus of the law firm.  In expressing how forceful and impactful their work in the field was, the third sentence should read, "The firm was so successful that it had come to dominate its field."

Closely related is the idea of "dominance" referring to power and influence over others.  It is with this in mind that the fourth sentence can use the term in addressing its relationship with its competitors.  The sentence should read, "It had competitors, though, so its dominance of the field was not uncontested."  The process of elimination can lead the last term to fill in the last sentence in "Occupying an entire building, the firm was a sizable legal domain."  In this case, "domain" refers to "area" or "controlled territory."

1) C. Domineering means to assert one's will over another. The workers did not like the way the boss pushed his ideas and agendas on them.

2) D. Predominantly means mainly or for the most part. This word works in this sentence because the lawyers in the firm do not only have to practice contract law, but they specialize in such practice.

3) B. Dominate means to rule or take control of. With the law firm's level of prominence and success, it would be the leader of it's field.

4) A. Dominance is the noun form of dominate, so it means the same thing. The law firm dominated their field, but the other firms in the area tested its control over the sector.

5) E. Domain means an area or territory. The law firm took up the entire office building, so their area was large.
