The Bible can teach many things to persons living in the twenty-first century.
In the Ten Commandments are lessons regarding how to relate to other persons and how to live peacefully in community with others.
You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house your neighbor's wife...(Ex. 20:13-17)
The Bible provides object lessons about action and reaction, the consequences that people have to face for their deeds. David became the king of Israel, the most powerful man in the kingdom, but when he abused his authority and coveted Uriah's wife Bathsheba, he ends up arranging for Uriah's death after impregnating Bathsheba. The boy born to David and Bathsheba dies young as punishment for the crimes commited against Uriah and society.
Every culture in the world has some sort of saying to describe the way in which people should treat each other. In the Bible, Jesus presents it as, "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31)
Aside from lessons of faith, the Bible can also be used to learn about poetry, prose, the development of culture, the ways ancient peoples preserved their accumulated traditions, and much more.

The Bible is the only book so old that is so relevant to lives today. Even though things are addressed that are part of culture a long time ago, they still give the answers to our lives today.
The Ten Commandments are a great set of guidelines which we should follow. It gives us a picture of what is wrong and what is right.
Even things like abortion, feminism and other issues are answered in the Bible.
