The Stanley Hotel is a 138-room Georgian style hotel in beautiful Estes Park Colorado. It is nestled in the Rocky Mountains and right near Rocky Mountain National Park. It was built by Freelan O. Stanley - the Stanley of "Stanley Steamer Corporatiobn" and opened on July 4, 1909. Many rich and famous people have stayed there, including "the unsinkable Mollie Brown," Teddy Roosevelt, and tons of other celebrities and world leaders. Stanley came to Estes Park in 1903 and fell in love with the beauty and the climate, so shortly thereafter, he began building the hotel. Construction began in 1907.

Some people say that Stephen King wrote the novel at the hotel, but this is not true. He was living in Boulder at the time, however. Did you know that The Stanley Hotel shows the uncut R-rated version of  on a continuous loop on Channel 42 on guest room televisions at the hotel? HERE'S JOHNNY!
