Do Lewis Structures show the correct shape of the compound?

Lewis structures do not show the actual shape of a compound or element; they simply show the number of valance electrons and the central atom. While it does not give you the structure immediately, it is a good starting point. In order to get the structure of the atom, you would need to look into VESPER (valance shell electron repulsion) theory.
