Do Christians differ from one another in how they view the role and status of women?

Christians absolutely disagree with one another on the proper role and status of women in society.  Some Christian sects tend to believe that women should not be able to play the same role as men within their churches.  The Roman Catholic Church and the Mormon Church are examples of this as neither of them allow women to be priests.  Other Christian sects believe that women should hold a position in society that is, arguably, inferior to that of men.  An example of this is the Southern Baptist Convention, which stated that women should submit to the leadership of their husbands.

By contrast, more liberal Christian sects see women much differently.  They allow women to be ordained as ministers.  They also tend to support the idea that women are equal to men and should be treated accordingly.
