To divide a decimal number by a decimal number convert the number you are dividing by to a whole number first, by shifting the decimal point of both numbers to the right such that :
Now, divide 620 by 23764 using Long division to get 0.02608988.
To round decimal number to nearest hundredths place, look at the decimal to the immediate right of the hundredth place. If it is 5 or above, round up. If it is 4 or below, round down and leave the hundredth place digit unchanged.
Here, the digit in the hundredths place is 2 and the digit to the immediate right of the hundredths place is 6. 6 is greater than 5, so round up. Add 1 to the digit you are rounding to (2+1=3).
Hence, the answer is 0.03.
0.62 divided by 23.764, before it is rounded, is 0.0260898839. To round it to the nearest hundredth, you would count two numbers past the decimal, which is 0.02. However because the number after that is a 6, and is higher than a 5, you have to round the number 2 up one. So your answer, rounded to the nearest hundredth is 0.03.
