The best way to effectively deal with a negative situation affecting a team is to have a strong leader.
Every team needs a leader. Even in the most collaborative of teams, there has to be someone to make the final decision and keep the peace. Conflict resolution strategies can be very helpful, but there should be a procedure in place. For example, a team could have a weekly meeting in which members are encouraged to air grievances and concerns. Or, the procedure could be that anyone with an issue come to the team leader first. Team leaders have to carefully watch the team, and cultivate good team dynamics.
A strong team can survive adversity. This means that when there is a struggle, the team comes together rather than pulling apart. There is a strong need for compatible personalities, because no matter the effort some people just don't get along.
