Othello is a character who starts out honorably but is led astray by a tragic flaw.  His own self-doubt and lack of confidence cause him to end up believing Iago and blaming Desdemona for a fictitious affair.  By the time Othello learns the truth, he has already killed his wife and therefore kills himself in an act of repentence.
