If you look at the actions of the humans in the battle, you could discuss the relatively bumbling nature of the tactics they employed and point out that they are satirizing the relative ineptitude of the Allied armies that fought on the "white" side of the battle against the "reds" led by Leon Trotsky.
The Allies were reacting without any real understanding of the threat or the forces they would face and they entered the conflict without any real strategy or even a firm objective which quickly led to their defeat. The defeat of the humans at the hands of the animals suggests the ineptitude of the humans and satirizes the efforts of the Allies in their failed intervention in the Russian Revolution.
